Al Gore gives plea to Congress

Al Gore gives plea to Congress
Al Gore brought 500,000 messages with him as he testified before Congress yesterday on the threat of climate change, urging legislators to take action. Unfortunately this has become a political issue and it doesn't help matters that Gore is identified with the Democrats. It is unbelievable that there are people out there like Republican Senator James Inhofe leading a defensive charge.

“It is my perspective that your global warming alarmist pronouncements are now and have always been filled with inaccuracies and misleading statements,” Mr. Inhofe said.

And this is the guy that is the ranking Republican on the Environment and Public Works Committee?!

When will this stop being a political issue and start being a real threat that we can all discuss without taking sides. We have a very narrow window of opportunity to change the course of destruction of our world and parties are bickering over taxes and protectionism.

Doesn't that maybe tell you something? Here's someone on an Environmental Committee that works with studies on global warming every day. Perhaps alot of Al Gore's threats of gloom and destruction are just alot of hot air? He maintains a "carbon neutral" lifestyle by buying "carbon offsets," but the company that receives his payments turns out to be partly owned and chaired by the former vice president himself. Gore has built a "green money-making machine capable of eventually generating billions of dollars for investors, including himself, but he set it up so that the average Joe can't afford to play on Gore's terms.
Sure we as earthlings have to find ways to keep our planet healthy but I don't believe it is as cut and dry as Mr. Gore wants us to believe. Leading scientists around the globe have been divided on these issues...and yet you want us to believe Mr. Gore who is nothing more than an egotistical hot aired politician who looks to gain financially? Line up the scientists and let's have a huge global debate and then let the people decide. Last week I was reading an article about the temperatures on Mars and how over the past few years it is hotter than ever...hmmmmm...wonder if the martians have been bad like us and not cut back on their green house gases. Go figure.

[...] Often the simplest solution to reducing oil consumption is the best. Finally, get involved with political action against global warming. It is appalling to me that this even has to be a political issue, but that’s what happens [...]
